Our Team


Matt Lane, Principal and Founder

Matt’s career in life sciences began in 2001 when he joined SG Cowen, now TD Cowen, a leading healthcare focused investment bank.  Since that time, Matt has established a voice in the industry across public equity, private equity and consulting. Matt was most recently a Managing Director with Blackstone Life Sciences responsible for marketing and communications and where he remains a consultant.   Matt’s varied experiences enable him to offer integrated strategic advisory services across communication, corporate finance and capital markets.  Prior to his career on Wall St, Matt served as press secretary to United States Senator Judd Gregg, (R-NH, ret.)

Matt has offered strategic advice to numerous boards, dozens of management teams and countless investors.  He has also authored multiple S-1s for successful IPOs.

Matt received his BA from Amherst College and was awarded the Charted Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 2001.


John Mitchell, Managing Director

John’s 30 years of experience in a variety of roles, and hundreds of meetings with senior management teams, gives him a deep understanding of Life Science markets, healthcare investor sentiment, effective communication strategies, and the complexity of capital markets.  John started his career at Cowen & Co, one of the premier Life Science Investment Banks, in 1993.  After Cowen, he held senior positions at Jefferies, Leerink Partners, and most recently, SMBC, where he worked with leading healthcare investors across the country, as well as dozens of C- level biotech management teams.   John has been an integral part of the financing process with dozens of biotech companies.

John graduated from Hobart College in 1993 with a BA in English and played on the Varsity Squash and Golf teams.  He lives in Wellesley MA and has three children.


Sara Michelmore, Managing Director

Sara Michelmore has spent over 25 years in the life sciences and healthcare. Sara utilizes her extensive Wall Street and consulting experience, analytical insights and relationships to advise companies on strategic positioning and communication of their science and technology to the investment community. Sara has established a track record of helping companies increase their visibility and credibility to the Street and helps Executives and Boards navigate evolving capital needs and maximize valuation in the context of ever changing market dynamics. Most recently, she served as Managing Director and Head of Investor Relations at MacDougall Advisors. She spent 15 years working as a sellside analyst, including 12 years at Cowen and Company, where she established strong relationships with both private and public investors. Her background also includes over 5 years in Healthcare management consulting and advisory, focused on market assessment, forecasting, valuation analysis, investor position and outreach. Sara graduated from Bowdoin College with a BA in Biochemistry and minor in Economics.
